Someone gave it to me quite a while back and yes, close to home.
Spending time with your children is sometimes hard work. Hard in the sense of keeping them interested and involved with you. I worked hard at it. Coached every sport, had a traveling baseball team, etc. That meant their friends too, lots of them.
One son graduated from NYU law last week. His brother and two old high school friends came up. Over dinner one night they reminisced about the great time they had growing up. Most things they talked about were the things we all did together. Before dinner was over, they all thanked me. It was a hell of a moment.
Jgreen John, Best of times, you are right. I too did the same coaching....including starting a pop warner program with friends and watching 6 years later as we won State. Same kids won State in Lacrosse on Friday night. My son is just finished with freshman year in college and my youngest is now off to boarding prep school. Empty nest has it moments but I have to admit I miss them. I also am trying to adjust to the fact that they soon won't be coming home for Summer vacation as they launch their own lives. We are close...and I specifically bought the A36 so I could get to them no matter what. I am watching that Cessna 150 thread carefully....would love to get a plane for them both to learn in. Best Regards, Kevin

Peter,
I apologize for the thread drift, mainly attributable to me.
God speed my friend. Whatever you do to involve yourself in your children's lives will come back to pay great dividends.
As for the 150, I honestly can't remember the last time I even saw one. I still wouldn't limit myself to one airplane model. In this market, incredible deals come up almost everyday. A few months ago a really nice, plain, Musketeer came on the market for $16,000. I called the afternoon it was listed and it was already sold. I didn't even want the airplane!
Good luck.
Jgreen

http://www.christiansenaviation.com/They have several 152s's for sale, 16,000 to 20,000 hours TTAF. Don't laugh so quick. I've done a handful of prebuy's for their customers and I found overall the planes were very good values for the money. Christiansen has been in business for 40 years and probably owns 300-400 + trainers. The maintenance shop has the experience and knows the weak points of the planes. Most planes have had 100 hours inspections since new. The cosmetics may be lacking but the airframe will be sound. By the way, get a 152 with the Sparrowhawk conversion. 125 HP vs. 110 stock HP. Myself, I love them, but if I was buying, I'd get a 172! An older Lycoming powered 172 is not much more money and far greater in usefulness.
