Is it possible to fly a Citation Stallion, and when the overhaul approaches, instead of paying the Williams Mafia, remove the STC and put Pratts back on the airplane?

Anything is possible with enough time and money.

You can remove any STC from any airplane if you have enough money.

It might be cheaper though to sell the one with STC, buy one without and spend the savings on updating everything else.

What would actually be required to do so? My understanding is that there are no structural modifications made with the STC, so removing the engines and the additional crossbeam should be relatively straightforward. The throttle linkages would need to be reworked to remove the ECUs. Other than that, what would be involved? Hydraulic and electrical?

Seems like the best option would be to convince Skyway to bring back the STC to put the -4s on a 501, and just replace the Williams with -4s when the time comes.

I'd post this in the 501 thread, which I believe Mike Tarver frequents. If anyone will know, he will.

He will most likely have all of the parts required.

Its not that simple. Engine instruments, Annunciator panel, Fire annunciation panel, Engine computers, Hydraulic and fuel line changes, ect.
No way this could be feasible on an airframe thats probably only worth $50,000-$100,000 after the engines are removed.

I am with Doug. I can’t imagine it’s worth it. Unless you did the work yourself for super cheap.

To pay a shop to do all that work would add up really fast. Then you have to buy the Pratt engines as well.

But anything can be done with enough time and money.

Never as simple as hoped.

Thank you for the replies, all.

I was trying to justify a stallion instead of a 550. A thread reply from Tarver convinced me away from the SII last night. There are a couple of Stallions on the market right now, but don’t want to risk the airplane becoming a paperweight if any engine issues with Williams and none are on program.

Back to scrolling I go to keep learning about the crazy nuances of each a/c.

Not feasible to do this!

Sean.

Nothing wrong with a Stallion on program. It has its advantages for sure. You pay for it but in my opinion it’s worth it.

It’s hard to beat a stallion’s performance for the money. Actually it’s impossible.

It’s a deductible expense. So for a business I am getting a discount. Haha.

I am looking at a new plane and I want one on program. But I also have insurance on all of my large assets including myself. To get a plane worth the jump up it’s a $3+ plane.

I thought you were asking about backing it into a parking spot with the TRs.

I’ll let myself out.

I thought he was trying to turn a stallion into gelding
