Not to derail the thread... isn't torque measured in LB/FT and NOT FT/LB?
Please be kind, I'm a piston guy, but was looking at the photo and wondering...


Both are wrong when written as a ratio (“this over that.”) It’s not pounds per foot or foot per pound.

Torque units are the *product* of a force and a distance, so ft-lbs or lbs-ft. Since multiplication is commutative, the order doesn’t matter. Most people use ft-lbs or N-m, but technically both orders are correct.

Just your friendly pedantic engineer weighing in after only two cups of coffee.

Yep, as others have pointed out, since it's ft * lb it doesn't really matter if you say ft-lb or lb-ft so long as you don't express it as a ratio. If you convert from freedom units to non-freedom units, it always seems to be expressed as Nm but never mN. And to me it all falls under the category of "you know what I mean", even though I have a Masters in pedantry.

However, I'm mostly here to point out that I never say acrobatic. It makes my friends think I'm a trapeze artist and it's hard enough explaining aerobatics as it is. I know some people use the terms interchangeably, though.
