Hi,

Thanks for your replies. They are very helpful.

Quote:
The 900XP has a zero-wind NBAA IFR range of about 2790nm with a full fuel payload of 1620-1950lbs

And that probably gives the best cost/benefit solution.

Citation Sovereign is also a contender

And the one I as a pilot would prefer. I doubt that I will be able to make sufficient argument for it, though.

TSP/Gold MSP with the avionics covered by CASP. Current prices are about $1025

Forgive me for asking obvious questions, but does a program like msp for engines and casp for avionics mean that spares are free in case of failures? And does it include overhaul for engines? I assume that it doesn’t cover a loaner engine during overhaul. If any of you have a link where msp or casp are explained for dummies, I’m very interested.

..and if the client isn't sure if they need it yet - they likely don't need it.

Very true! But i have information about how the clients platform will change during 2026 that their travel department doesn’t.

Quote:
Morten I will advocate you continue using your next larger type

So would I. However in our operation, the fixed wing department only have BE20, Dash8Q200 and A330-800. No one would willingly operate a turboprop on a 2000nm+ flight, although the DH8 actually can do it. And the A330 is way too expensive.

Quote:
After two years they ended up switching entirely to Global for all the reasons i mentioned.

Which is why I for a long time have advocated for the BE20 to be replaced with DH8.

I’m pitching the idea/sale to my Director of flight ops and to my ceo in two weeks. I’ll keep you posted about outcome. But any additional info is welcome.

Brgds
Morten

When you go to purchase a plane, even though you have done it before, I would recommend considering Jet Acquisitions to assist with the process.

There is a lot of detail that can be found on the providers pages regarding Power by the Hour type of maintenance programs. You don't have to subscribe to them, and can use a shop of your choosing, but many engine manufacturers make it difficult to get parts.
...or they make it unbelievably expensive to obtain parts. I am not naming names but if there were two FJ44 engines on my plane, you betcha I would ensure that the plane was current on the Williams program and it was transferred at the time of sale.

Many of the programs will cover overhauls but there are terms. Example - You can't borescope the engine at time of purchase or it will void the warranty. If the linepersons hat goes into the engine at 4590 hours and requires the engine to be overhauled 410 hours early, you may have to have FOD GAP insurance but they would cover the remove/replace/transport of your engine and a power-by-the hour lease until yours is back to you in 6-8 weeks. ...and likely an attorney to go after the FBO.

You can call most of the manufacturers and they will speak with you and send you information about their programs. Below is manufacturer information links:

This is Honeywell MSP information, which has programs for engines, APUs and avionics (formerly HAPP):
https://aerospace.honeywell.com/us/en/p ... propulsion

This is Pratt & Whitney's ESP program information:
https://www.prattwhitney.com/en/service ... nce-progra

This is the Collins Avionics (CASP) program information:
https://www.collinsaerospace.com/what-w ... tions/casp

Williams has their information behind a password protected client portal.

Note - They may send you to a service partner and dealer/reseller like Duncan or Smart Aero, who may also package services like AOG "Fly2U"/"Drive2U" support. This is less common with aircraft being resold.

You can also learn a lot by having a discussion with CoPilot or Chat GPT-5.
