What has happened to Ransclan? It used to be active and interesting. I signed on yesterday and found it to be nearly dead. The most recent post is from the administrator, stating the site would be shut down and deleted 9/1/26, and blaming his supporters for its demise.

Where do Rans builders go for advice, support, etc now?

I don't know about that site particularly, but a lot of other good aviation resources have died from being over-run by people debating politics and social issues unrelated to aviation. A good argument for the admins here to rule with an iron fist.

it's not as bad over on the kitfox forum (Thank god as I'm building and there is a wealth of info) but it's no where near as active as it is here. I don't know what the secret sauce is here but it's has to be a delicate balance to keep people engaged. Is there an active facebook group maybe? people have to be getting info some place. Depending on what you are looking for I have good luck reaching out to builders who post on youtube as well.

Good comments, both. Most of my forum time is BT, so I don't always see that the forum world is dying. Ransclan is all but dead, as is Skywagons.org. Supercub.org and Backcountrypilot.org are shadows of their former selves, and Pilots of America is a cesspool.

Facebook is for Boomers, so I don't see any staying power to builders' groups there. There are no archives, so there's no opportunity to search previous discussions.

So what's left?

I don't participate in the premise of facebook, my profile is completely blank except for loading a profile photo (necessary to get past the filters to join some groups). I only have an account to access some of the groups that have document archives, and marketplace
