Yeah that's worth something but AFaIK, they can always settle for the 100k policy limit and leave you with the rest of a judgement. But if you can't get better limits you just have to live with what you can get. My comment about the extra 20% was aimed at Steve who does appear to have a choice.

I’m not an insurance expert but my understanding is they have to defend the insured. I don’t think they can just pay the policy limit and walk away. I could be wrong on this.
