I'd buy 170mph. That is just 147kts. At 8000', my 182-S (IO-540, 238hp) would make 142kts with full fuel and two in the cabin, and heavy shooting gear. It would make 145kts at 11,000 in cooler months. I could see a IO-550 pulling it along at 147kts.

Attachment: IMG_0479.jpeg Here's a pic of my C182 doing 148 KTAS, admittedly on a cold day and at 13,000’. Also a VERY nice tailwind that day! Wish I wasn't inverted, can someone help with tihis? If you click on the pic it comes up correctly, for me at least! CT

The standard 182T’s are in the 150-155 (the turbos).. so 170 isn’t impossible on the perfect day, but I agree it’s probably a stretch.. I’m thinking this is a 160/65 knot airplane under most conditions.. My 470/TS powered 182 hangs between 151-156 knots TAS pretty comfy. I’m still looking for a faster 470 powered 182..

When I saw "gear saddles" and "337" in the same sentence my mind went in a third direction. That was one of the annoying things about trying to find information for an old Skymaster using Google - searching for "337" + any aviation term was just about useless.
Same issue when I search for Turbine Inlet Temps as an abbreviation.

Are you running LOP at that fuel flow?
