Wow. Cool summary of the interations. Wonder what causes those valves to clog? Some form of icing?

Yeah, and I don’t understand what filtration is required for LOX. Beyond my brain.

Thanks again for the Voyager book recommendation. You are virtually 100% on amazing book suggestions.

Contaminants (FOD) get into the propellants and changes state at cryogenic temps and often passes through upstream filtering efforts. We've found some interesting stuff in rocket engine propellant feedlines.

I don't know in this case, but in general cryo systems can have an issue with water ice. Its easy to end up with ice crystals in the cryo fluid and those can plug things. You need to be very careful to dry out plumbing and tanks before cooling.

I'm sure they will solve it.

Typical practice is to keep a blanket pressure of GN2, or GHe on the propellant lines and engines, also high volume purging prior to loading propellants

The explanation here seems indicative of FOD to me, not ice. Likely "domestic debris", pieces of upstream components getting loose and blocking downstream filtering.

Starship Flight Test #4 is tentatively scheduled for June 6th. The launch window opens at 8AM eastern.

The only question I have is whether the Boeing Starliner CFT-1 will make it off the pad before SpaceX Starship OFT-4? :hide:

I wouldn't bet the store on it. I just hope that when it goes, it goes smoothly. With a crew on board Starliner needs to be a safe ship.

Propellant load is underway. Everything seems to be on schedule. I’m waiting with my family for the show.
