My 9 year old isn't real interested in airplanes, but he loves to fly helicopters. Every once in a while I bring one home from work and let him fly. He does pretty good!
He suggested we add lasers. I have to admit lasers would be pretty cool. (Oh c'mon, you all want lasers too. We are just overgrown 9 year olds.)

I dunno if anyone still does so, but 30+ years ago, many of us would bring a kid or two to the tower on midshifts. Most brought a kid’s sleeping bag and the youngsters were generally asleep by midnight, but my middle son was a computer whiz, and I had him doing command line clearance amendments in the FDIO.

My favorite thing is flying with the kids, got to fly with the big one to Switzerland/Italy a few weeks ago, here she is drawing the Matterhorn on the way into Stans.

This young man has been flying with me since he was about 3. At age 9, he is much more cautious about how he flies, but one of his favorite things is when I let him follow the Hudson River. He likes gently weaving back and forth. Attachment: 182.jpg
