I think that all parking-only aircraft should be parked in far S40. There’s no reason for good show-center camping spots to be taken by airplanes flown in by people who get driven to off-site lodging and not seen again until the end of the week.

This is an excellent suggestion, and perhaps the easiest to implement without upsetting the current situation with mass arrival groups. (Full disclosure, I arrive with the Mooneys in no small part due to parking/camping together in the N40 and have no desire to have our group moved south!)

The simplest change might be to price the N40 at a higher price but include the camping fee instead of having two separate "purchases." Frugal non-campers will naturally seek out the cheaper alternative and leave more space for those wanting to camp and enjoy the camaraderie in the N40. The only downside might be more congestion in the showers and lines for the shuttles, but that isn't a deal-breaker IMO.

The challenge to get EAA to move on any of this is that, from their perspective, they already did improve the S40, and they started marketing it as a fun place to enjoy Airventure. So now they need to be convinced that it wasn't enough, and potentially need to be convinced that it might be a better spot to put the mass arrivals.

Food trucks are probably a no-go, though. They'll piss off their existing food vendors.

If they all had to be replaced, that wouldn't be the end of the world. More likely to be an improvement.

S40 as the mass arrival destination makes a lot of sense. It would likely be pretty dead by Wednesday, so they’d still have to perk it up somehow.

I’ve never camped with the airplane at Oshkosh, but I’ve done nearly every other kind of lodging there. As long as my old friends are there, and as long as there’s the opportunity to make new ones, it really doesn’t matter where I park.
