On his toilet, or from his toilet?

And the founder (or namer) of Jet Elite is now that himself. Boom. Oh. Btw...you owe me a steak dinner.

Can't be reasonably done from what I know. Removal of the Primus 1000 screens removes the autopilot. If the GFC 600 gets an STC for the Ultra, then you can fully Garminize it. I'm waiting for the that myself to get rid of the SPZ 500. Quote: Can the V go straight to the 40s on hot days or does it need to step climb? We took it to FL450 on the test flight. ISA +10, maybe 2000 lbs under gross. It basically did what the book said it would do. Book says at gross, FL430 then step to FL450, unless ISA +10, then FL410 and step up. Ultra will go to FL450 with no step, even at ISA +10. That is the main advantage to the Ultra, just the little extra power gets up to altitude. Although the Ultra burns a little bit more fuel, being able to get to altitude faster and higher makes it have about the same max range as the V. Mike C.

Username Protected wrote: I will be curious to here about your training experience. So am I. An MU2 buddy decided to get his type rating as well, so we are doing it as a crew. He has been my training buddy in the MU2 since 2006, so that should go smoothly. FSI sent us a schedule. First week is all ground school. Second week is all sim. I would have preferred they be interspersed, but they set the plan. Also, all of our sim sessions are in the evening starting at 5:30 pm. Probably not ideal, but that's what we have been given. FSI was actually a bit cheaper than Simcom for this. The class is Citation II with differences for V, Atlanta with a II sim with Garmin 530. Nobody has a pure V sim that I know of (FSI just decommissioned one in Long Beach). After so many years of Simcom (only place with MU2 sims), also wanted to try FSI and see how it was. They do have Ultra and Encore sims, but they charge $5K more to type in those for no explicable reason. I would have taken the Encore in Wichita if it was the same price, but not for $5K more per person. They sent us a huge folder of documents. Lots to study, but it won't be a challenge technically. We aren't worried about flying it, or the systems, the main concerns are speed control with engine lag and no prop drag, plus crew coordination. Usually, the things you worry about go smoothly and something seemingly easy is what trips you up. Mike C.

Username Protected wrote: The HT blades in last 5Ds that I did the Hot section on where just fine. How many cycles/hours on them at the HSI? Locking down exactly what the HT blade impact is on the -5D has been something of a moving target. Hard to get solid data. Ultimately the fact the -5A HT blades are the same as -4, -4A, -5, etc, means getting serviceable ones is quite a bit cheaper. The -5D blade being almost $6K each and having 71 of them per engine is kind of eye watering. If you find an Ultra with low time HT blade sets and low cycle impellers, that's over $1M in parts just for those things. Mike C.

Username Protected wrote: Here is what I bet. You will actually get a type rating and buy a jet before the FAA makes any changes re the Citation. Best steak dinner in Indy for the winner. So either I have a jet and type rating, and buy you a steak, or I get a free steak. Not sure how I am losing on this one... :-) Mike C.

Mike, I have the SPZ500 system and it has been perfect. I’ve flown the integrated Garmin autopilot which is also very nice especially for coupled VNAV capability.

Mike on that point I have had scheduled training similar at FSI at SAT. I have found that more often then not it gets rescheduled to earlier during the day. I don't think the instructors like being there too late so they work it between them selves. I had one where the SIM was scheduled for 830pm and it never happened. I prefer earlier then latter Might be worth letting the instructors know you are happy to change. Andrew

You'll have no issue flying the Citation. It flies like a 182, just a little faster.
