I'd bet that if you refrained from scud running, avoided seriously confined landings/takeoffs, hot dogging, etc. you'll probably be at least as safe as you've been in the floatplane if not safer (at least you shouldn't encounter and submerged logs). +1 Sort of like saying an Ag plane is dangerous... It just lives in a dangerous neighborhood. I have only ridden in an R44 once, and compared to a Bell 47G2B3R2D2(whatever) it seemed turbine smooth. Nice ride!
