Neat video and info.
Loved the pics of the massive flying boats, too

What a coincidence, I am here in Friedrichshafen today to visit a customer and went to the Dornier Museum. Very cool vertical takeoff/landing transport jet DO-31 out in front.

Friedrichshafen is simply fantastic!
Aviation-wise, Dornier, Zeppelin (great museum if you can go, also, maybe you can spot the NT in flight), the Aero show.

And the place is beautiful, the lake is so nice. I just loved flying there.

The zepplenin museum is really cool. I went because someone else wanted to and was thinking "ho hum, balloon museum" but it was incredibly interesting.

They used a version of that in “Man in a High Castle”. Netflix

I saw that plane at Udvar-Hazy. It's one of those designs that looks too advanced for its times but also has retro design cues, giving it almost a steampunk look. At first glance I thought it was a movie mockup. It's an impressively big plane, particularly compared to other fighters of its day.

It's even funnier if you know the referenced personalities.

A good guy who is no longer participating here. Sadly.

I've seen that plane at the Air and Space museum. It is truly awesome. We were told during a tour that when the plane was captured, the US wanted to study it but of course didn't have any pilots familiar with it. So they ordered the German pilot to fly it to the coast where it would be shipped as cargo to the US. The USM was concerned that the pilot would abscond with the plane (fly it back to Germany?) so they assigned two P51s to escort it. The 335 took off and quickly left the P51s behind, but the German pilot brought it directly to the destination just as he said he would.

Wouldn't you love to know more about that pilot.

I can hear the debrief: “What? You couldnt keep up? I am sooooo sorry! I did not realize the P-51 was sooooo slow! Next time I leave the gear down. Then you keep up, ya?
