It seems to me that drilling and reaming the seat rail holes oversize and installing oversized seat pins would be a much simpler solution to worn holes in the seat rails. Has anyone tried to or thought about getting an AMOC (alternate method of compliance) so such a procedure?

Newer rails, McFarlane specifically, are so much beefier and sturdy. I can’t imagine it would be any cheaper or faster to drill out every adjustment hole and modify the seat pin than replace the seat rails. Replaced all 4 in 2 different planes, and except for a couple of rivers, it’s an easy process.

All good ideas but personally i’d continue to use the redundant stops in addition.

Wouldn't you also need to modify the seat frame to accept the larger pins, forever making it a "modified rail only" seat?
