Cessna 185 with a Robertson STOL conversion is an amazing short field performed. Turbo version would be great in the mountains. The downside is the droop ailerons limit crosswind capability with the flaps down. It is a handful in gusty winds.
I would also look at the King Katmai 182 conversion if you are tailwheel adverse. Actually, this may be my first choice for 4 place stol. A lot cheaper than a PC-6 or Turbine Beaver (or regular Beaver.)
