Just watched the entire thing. January 1, 4:30 am.
Wow!
I salute you sir and thank you for your service.
No snowflakes or kneelers anywhere.
Wow! I want to be this sharp and witty in my eighties.

If this is what they flew back then, it makes you wonder what they have up there right now.

Thank you all for your incredible service!

Very cool, he is a great speaker. Some interesting takeaways:

1) Speed is limited by engine temp. I think he said compressor temp in the video.

2) A 2G aircraft

3) 78 lb/sq-ft wing loading at gross

4) Exhaust plume was radar reflective, so they used a cesium fuel additive to make it absorptive.

Great presentation- all kinds of stuff I didn't know. Thanks, David.

I did know that compressor temperature was sometimes limiting in late 1950s/early 60s fast jet designs- sometimes the compressor discharge temperature, where the hottest moving parts of the compressor are (makes sense when you think about it, since the compressor is made from different materials than the turbine).

Regarding a favorite BT point of contention, the end of the video features a twin doing a touch and go.

I learned a new saying: "Hairier than the butt end of a bear turd" I'm not sure when I'll ever find the place to use that one.
