Hello all,

We are currently working on our Cessna Caravan C208B. Does anyone know where the Bendix/King - KGP560 (TAWS/EGPWS) is installed in the aircraft?

Espen,

I don't own a 208 but I did notice the installation manuals are available on the web. I would think that the electronics module could be mounted on the avionics shelf in the aft part of the plane and of course the annunciator is in the panel.

The installation manuals didn't seem to dictate a location for the module and so mounting it under the panel would certainly eliminate the need to string the cables fore and aft.

Thank you Bruce!
We found the same when we went through the installation manual. It would be nice to have it upfront, because of the wiring. However that spot is really tight upfront. Just want to evaluate our options, the KGP560 is charming ragatding its price, but in case we have to install it in the back, I guess we need to consider the GTN 750 enablement card.

Have a nice day.
Hubi

Hallo Hubi!

May I recommend you get in touch with Gerhard Strobl on this very forum. He has a vast knowledge of this sort of things that comes from experience. Also, he not only shares the same time-zone as us, he also shares your country and language.

Mit freundlichen Grußen!

How did you know that Hubi and I are on this project together??? :bud:

Or you are just supersmart and put 2 & 2 together from my previous question on requirement for TAWS on a Caravan earlier.

There are plenty of them mounted up front in the avionics area right of the copilot knee....but if you already have a GTN750 installed, the TAWS unlock is definitely the way to go.

It should be possible to get it installed in this position if we can get the 2 bundles separated and have the big bundle with connectors located underneath the rack.
The smaller bundle could go above the EGPWS.

There is a big saving (about 4000$) in going GPWS instead of TAWS on the GTN750.
Installation is "free".
But only if we can find space for the box up front.

hey Hubi
If you don't have a GTN750 but do have a GNS530 they where also aviable with a TAWS-B option but I am not sure if an upgrade is possible. (GTN750 is a mutch better investment )
note: (are we talking about N...PC , currently at EBZW  ??)

Thank you very much everyone! I guess we will consider the GTN enablement card (newer technology and easier installation but a price tag). It was nice to meet you Eric :peace:

Hey Hubi,
Also take in account that if you bought the KGP560 in the USA you also need to buy a new terrain database.
pleasure was all mine :dancing:
