I think it's a neat name actually they were built in Bend, Oregon. Corvallis is in Oregon though, home of Oregon State University. I don't think Bend is a good name for an airplane FWIW

Best glide in the Bo is about 1000'/min. That is about 11 MPH vertical. Best endurance glide speed is less than that, so I would say that the vertical descent speed could be reduced to around 8-9 MPH. The vertical speed isn't what gets you, it's the forward speed.
