Allan thx for posting that chart! A lot more similarities than differences! In general the CJ is 1/3 less fuel.

I think Ken said pro parts and Tap Blue were $550/hr in the CJ. That seems pricy compared to the KA but honestly I don't know what it is costing me so I need to run those numbers.

The V carries more, has 150nm better range and is about 1/2 the price.

I looked at the fuel cost for an hour trip. The V burns 400# more. At $3/gal that's $180.
I the CJ cost about double what a V costs or 1.2 more, if you figure that money costs 48,000/yr that works at to 22 hours/month break even point if all else is the same. But I doubt all else is the same, I'd bet the maint on the V has the risk of being higher.

Find out what Proparts and an engine program will cost on a 560. If you can even get it.

Dispatch reliability will be less and some parts are hard to find.

560 is fine today for a low utilization private owner. Or for a charter operation with dedicated maintenance.

You will find there are good reasons 300+ hrs/yr corporate operators have sold their 560s and bought CJ3/4s.

I think you will find the engine programs are double the cost on a V (or any JT15 powered Citation as well as the Bravo engines) vs. the FJ's or new generation Pratts. That's why few subscribe I suppose but the cost is real. The legacy planes like the V are great but at any given moment you could face a $200k engine repair. The market prices them accordingly.

Same lesson once again - there is no free lunch and the market knows what things are worth.

Why CJ4 when this thread is discussing CJ2 vs. 560?

Sorry. CJ4 info was all I had access to at the time. But, as you can see, they are more closely aligned.

Here is a CJ4 flight a few days ago. We were lightly loaded and I tell people that the airplane is a miniature G550. There is no comparable airplane in it's size.

Agreed. The Phenom 300 compares favorably with the CJ4. But they are both extremely satisfying machines that would put a smile on any of our pilot faces!
