From: CPA ATIS <noreply@cessna.org> CPA E-ATIS Volume 18 Issue 1 June 12, 2016
We are deeply saddened to report the passing of John Frank, CPA co-owner and founder, on Thursday, June 9th at his home in Santa Maria, CA. CPA as well as the aviation community has lost a true aviator with a wealth of technical knowledge and experience both in and out of the cockpit. Please be assured that Cessna Pilots Association will continue servicing the needs of the membership. For the time being Tom Carr, Paul New and Dennis Wolter will be answering the tech tickets. The Association will be actively searching for in-house tech reps. In the meantime, if you need immediate technical help, please call the office and we will have someone return your call. The Cincinnati, OH Legacy 182 and 210 Systems and Procedures Classes in September are still scheduled. Paul New and Tom Carr will be your instructors. The staff appreciates your patience during our time of transition.

It's difficult to fully convey the depth of loss the entire industry has suffered with John's passing. He understood light GA aircraft and the entire aviation ecosystem to a level of depth I have not seen in very many individuals. And he offered that expertise in a very open and generous manner.
There is no doubt that hundreds if not thousands of pilots and passengers are alive and flying today who would not be without the influence that John wielded.
Understated, probably misunderstood a decent percentage of the time, but brilliant.
It's a very, very sad day. We will truly miss him.
John

Don't take this the wrong way, but this is the way all pilots should die, after a long fruitful and enjoyed life, in his bed. PS: John was executive director of the American Bonanza Society MANY years ago, so not just a brand C pilot. Mike C.

May he rest in peace and condolences to his family and friends. He was a great contributor to aviation.

I am shocked and saddened as well, he was a great teacher and mentor to so many new Cessna owners like me. First met him at the R182 systems and procedures course in Ohio (2001) and got to be friends later on at the Oshkosh events.
Does anyone know if he was ill or was this sudden?
Prayers are with the family.
