I've flown my 210 for over 10 years and really like it. Fast, full fuel payload of half a ton, 2 doors for easy in/out, good value.
Having said that, I think a Cherokee 6/Lance is the right plane for you for all of the reasons stated above.

The thing I don't like about the 206 is that you have to slide over the pilot's seat to get in the front right seat. I do like the back doors on the 206 and the A36 but like all airplanes, it's a trade off.

That depends on if it is a U206(which has the barn doors and 1 front door) or a straight 206 which has a small rear door and 2 front doors, ala 210.

I bought my baron mostly because it was cheap to get into, and then worked out it is a fabulous airplane. I realize I was fortunate, but I owned mine for 4 years, and never came close to spending the difference in acquisition costs. I don't see that the second motor and prop cost that much more to own. Ron I gave some fairly serious consideration to buying an Aztec recently, and it's not the "everything's going fine" costs that scared me, it's the exposure of having another $40-50k engine (and a second set of accessories) hanging out there that COULD go wrong.
It's totally a fear of perception. The likelihood of being out $40K -$50K in a swoop is the about the same as you picking up ice and doing a forced landing in a field somewhere. Now, a new top end or cylinder replacement is far more likely.
Should we consider the people that fly past TBO in twins as getting a $40K-50K windfall?

Are u sure? The only 206 that I'm aware of that has a co pilot door is the P206, unless of course it has the Wipaire door. My T206 has one front door and the double doors in back.

You are correct, before the 206H it was either a P with 2 front doors or a U with one. Now with H they are essentially Lyc powered Us.
