Have a 73 Arrow , the gear transit lamp stays illuminated when it is up , every thing works fine , but I believe it has to do with the uplock switches......In the diagram (wiring) it shows all the uplock switches going into either a diode block or terminal strip... (the diagram is cryptic) does anyone know where this part is located in the airframe ????? Thanks in advance....

All by memory so.... No up locks on the gear. Just a pressure switch. It runs up until the pressure switch is satisfied. I believe you have one of three problems. Inop pressure switch, pump incapable of providing the necessary pressure, or an acuator that is bypassing enough fluid to cause the system to be unable of reaching satisfactory pressure. First step would be to put it on jacks and listen to the pump while watching the gear. Gear go up and pump wines....check switch. Gear hang and wallow while pump just runs...check hydraulic system.

Thanks Ryan , The pump does shut off when it is full up , and I can see the uplock switches on the wing where the gear hits it...

OK, point of terminology here; Ryan is correct, the hydraulic gear system in the Piper singles and their derivatives have no up locks. Hydraulic pressure holds the gear up. If you bust a line the gear will free fall to the down position. If you have switches in the wells then they are there to tell the pump to stop running and/or turn off the in transit light. You're on the right track, I'm sorry I can't help to locate the electrical block you're looking for.

Going off memory, the switches for when the gear is up only run the indication/warning light. The pressure switch tells the pump to shut off. There is also a down lock microswitch for each gear. The terminal strip is under the center seats, on the aft left, behind the flap torque tube (I think). Seems like piper doesn't number the terminal strip, but the wires should be numbered.
