Was eating lunch at Hijackers restaurant located on KFIN ( Flagler FL) when in taxies this: Attachment: image.jpeg Attachment: image.jpeg Attachment: image.jpeg Being interested in historical aircraft approached the owner about the aircraft background. This aircraft served overseas during WWII. Returned to US after the war ended and put up for sale as surplus. At this time AA was requiring there pilots to be route qualified in VFR conditions. Was getting too expensive to do this with DC2 & DC3. So AA purchased a group of surplus Gullwings for there route qualifications. This Gullwing was one of these hence the AA colors. Believe the aircraft is based at Keystone and was a past Sun n Fun award winner. Craig

Got many a fond memory eating at Hijackers. Kid's B-days, Valentines Day, Just-puttin-around-might-as-well-swing-down-n-eat days... Gorgeous accident you had there, Craig!

Simply beautiful! Nothing flies like and is as comfortable as big airplanes of this vintage. Parts and maintenance, well that's another story.

Weld some tubing, cut some wood, dope some fabric will make almost all of it. They didn't have modern production machines when there were being built, so they are designed to be built with basic machines from a fairly small set of basic materials. Mike C.
