All he got to do was look at the Cub, but there will be more days, many I hope. Jgreen John, you need to have a sit down with the womenfolk in the family. Re-sorting of priorities needs to be discussed. Good luck with that and let us know how it went. (Full disclaimer: bachelor here)

When we shut down the crew at the new ranch house yesterday, one of my most valuable, permanent employees asked if he could try to get a nice buck he had seen driving in that morning. I agreed and left for the airport to check out the Aerostar for upcoming Holiday travels. I pulled the A* out and couldn't resist, I pulled the Cub out too for a short hop. Terry called and he had gotten the buck. I told him to wait, I'd be right there. I landed in the hay field in front of the house, much to his surprise, and got two really nice pics. This was the Cub's first trip to the ranch since the rebuild. Eventually, I'm going to build a hangar and keep it there, right out my front door. But first, the house. Jgreen

John
yes the first PA-18s, and the one in the video was a PA-18-95 with a C90 Conti..in 1950 they also started with the PA-18-105, that was the first with a O-235 Lyc with 100HP, then progressed through the PA-18-105 Special with 108 HP O-235..
Flaps arrived with the first PA-18-125 which was powered by a Lyc O-290 and then through the PA-18-135, still powered by the Lyc O-290 progressed to the final PA-18-150 powered by the O-320.
Excellent book where you will find every serial number's specs I can recommend is
Peter M. Bowers "Piper Cubs", (TAB Books) ISBN 0-8306-2170-9, covers every serial number and specs from the first Taylor Cubs through the last Supercub built..
Among a lot of PA-18-150s , we do have quite a number of the flapless lower powered birds here in Austria, in fact when I was a kid learned to fly in one of those
Friend of mine has an interesting version, a 1954 PA-18-105 Special, but which was a Navy trainer version..interesting thing about that one, was the only Supercub version with toe brakes from the factory..the USN had wanted toe brakes...
sweet flying bird, however switching from standard heel brakes to the toe brakes, I always have to concentrate a bit ( do not want to break it..)…the lower powered birds in my view remind me more of a J-3..not so powerful but very sweet and balanced control feel..
happy landings
Gerd
