Do all the turbine commanders have the lav between the pilots and the cabin without hard doors?

Never seen one with hard doors or the lab anywhere else, but maybe Bruce has?

It's either a semi-rigid pocket door or a double curtain on a track depending on the plane. There was actually an aft lav config with a hard door available on the 690B but I have seen only one, and it was changed to the more commonly seen open layout.

The lav in a turboprop is for emergency use. One does not want to encourage their use ;) Unless it's the relief tube, of course. We put those under the crew seats all the time. No need to get out of your seat :pilot:

My lav is used often on long trips. Women are appreciative of the fact that they have complete privacy in the rear behind a closed solid door. No smell in the cabin ever since the outflow valve is further back behind the lav yet.

Mine is for use whenever someone needs to use it, not just emergency use. The factory setup for the lav sucks, the way mine is setup makes servicing it a non event.

Mine is too. I take 5 bags of kitty litter and clean up is a non-event. I just don't like to encourage it.

The pilot who flew my aircraft before me also used kitty litter. I tried it for one trip and realized it was not the right way to go. The kitty litter, once loaded with liquid, moves around and tends to cause even the toughest garbage bags to leak.

I found this powder which gels when it becomes wet and basically eliminates foul odor. Upon landing pull tabs on garbage bag and throw away, no stink and no leaks. The kittly litter is like sand and is abrasive when wet causing leaky bags. The gel is not abrasive, no leaks.

It is simply amazing to me that, in a plane that costs more than a upscale 5 bedroom house in a nice neighborhood, we are reduced to pooping in cat litter. This has to be absurd to non pilots. It is to me too.

I'd rather my passengers feel absurd than they couldn't hold it any more.

Tecnically, I am not using cat litter but an absorbing powder.

My aircraft left the factory with a flushing type potty which has to be removed and carried out to empty. I have the unit but have to interest in using it as it could be messy when full of liquid and is not as easy to dispose of. One Merlin I know of has the lav setup so that it can be serviced externally by a lav cart. My problem with this is that many of my destinations have no lav cart service.

The absorbing powder solution is clean, odorless and a non issue to service.

Best lav solution is wal-mart camp toilet bags filled with above mentioned gel powder inside a giant zip loc bag. Easy, no mess and about $5/use.
