If you have PA46 time, and it's recent, a quick call to your broker should provide you with what you are looking for.

Thanks. Paul it will be driven primarily by the insured value of the machine you purchase as there is a big difference from a 650k 2001 Meridian and a 2.25m 2014 Meridian respects hull insurance. Your experience should make for a relatively easy transition.....formal initial school and maybe some light mentor time if you have no prior turbine time.

MMOPA Website Insurance survey is being conducted currently. FYI 2014 ANNUAL MERIDIAN INSURANCE SURVEY Postby Jerry Trachtman » Wed Nov 12, 2014 1:26 pm I did not conduct the annual Meridian Insurance Survey this year, and at the convention Meridian breakout session in Bonita Springs I was raked over the coals by those present and persuaded to do it again. Everyone who has participated in the past commented to me how valuable it has been to them at insurance renewal time. That is its purpose. I have also received private comments requesting I continue the survey. Here's the link to the 6th annual Meridian insurance survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VQW6B6HIf you have already renewed your insurance this year, please complete the survey. If you have not yet renewed, please complete the survey before the end of the year after you renew. Have your policy declarations in front of you when you take the survey, and it should take less than 5 minutes to answer 10 questions. You can answer anonymously if you like. The more responses to the survey, the more valuable it is, so please respond. As always, I will make the results available to everyone who responds to the survey, and any other MMOPA member who requests it. Insurance underwriting changes over time, so the survey information is not absolute. But it is a good guide at renewal, and does show which brokers and which underwriters seem to be the most aggressive Jerry Trachtman 2008 Meridian KMLB (Melbourne, FL)

Thanks. I think mine was somewhere around 5-6k, but I had a bunch of turbine time and time in type, that was for a 850k hull.

-Pascal Pascal- That wouldn't surprise me - Canada is a whole different animal than the USA in terms of insurance cost - there are many fewer underwriting companies and the cost overall is usually quite a bit higher than comparable coverages here in the US. A week doesn't go by when I get a call from a C registered turbine owner hoping for a better deal on their insurance. Unfortunately Canadian insurance law dictates that unless the broker is domiciled in Cananda - US brokers can't generally write C registered aircraft that are based in Canada.

That's why it is often benificial to keep aircraft N registered even if they spend a majority of the year elsewhere. The U.S. insurance system is very well developed and affordable for private operators. South America insurance is an absolute joke in comparision.

I have a G550 client down there in Sao Paulo. Every year we run the exercise of comparison between US insurance markets and South American markets. The difference in insurance the last couple of years has been in excess of $25k+ better from US insurers. Smaller capacity via South American insurers and also the potential to have to place policies via London markets which generally adds a higher cost element.
