Dont pay any attention to the blueberry... I didnt have a napkin and couldnt think of a better way to use a receipt with insane charges on it. That was for five days of parking without buying any of their almost $9/gallon fuel. I asked if they could wave the fees if I bought a bunch of fuel, but was told that it makes no difference and no fees are wavable. Wonder if anyone contests the charges?

Quote: Trying to think through this. What would they do if you are intentionally carrying a firearm in your plane. X-ray it. Confirm that's what it is , and send you on your way ? I sort of get the crewed 757 argument, but when you are the pilot in command, you determine what goes on your plane. Even cites with the most restrictive gun laws (at least the ones I have read) allow you to carry a cased firearm in your vehicle on the way to/from target practice. So, what would be the legal basis for not allowing you to take a firearm on your personal plane ? The even more bizarre corner case would be if you are also the sole occupant ? Hard to be PIC if you don't "take control of the plane." We'll probably need someone else to provide the final answer, but is it not against the law to be in possession of any pistol or revolver in the big gun control states, even if properly licensed in a pilots home state? I though as far as BOS, NY, and Chicago were concerned if you were found in possession, you were guilty. So if the FBO screening found a weapon, they called the police and off to jail you went. What am I missing?

FAR 125 allows large aircraft to operate privately, they don't have to be 121. The FAA couldn't keep track of all of the operators if they had to be 121.

Greg,
Not a gun but "weapons"...a friend of mine (Jeff Uphoff) used to own a Mooney and did a lot of short notice travel fixing computers for things like banks (money no object, get it fixed!). He flew up to KBOS in the Mooney and took his tools with him. When the repair work at the bank was done, he returned to KBOS to board his plane. They said the tool bag had weapons (wire cutters, pliers, a knife, screwdrivers, etc.). He said yes, they were his, he was the sole pilot and occupant of the plane and they could escort him out, watch him close the door, start up and depart. They would not let him do this...he ended up having to spend something like $100 to Fedex his tool bag home....
Common sense and security are not aligned in Boston....

It's probably been 2 years since I've been in there, but I've been in there a bunch after 9/11 (for Orioles/Red Sox games) and never even saw a scanner at Signature, let alone been scanned. I wonder if it's new?

In response to Remy;s original question, I think the weight is 98,500lbs. A DC-9-10 is the largest aircraft to fall below the weight. So no matter how it is operated (91, 121,125) above this weight for every flight the PIC must do or delegate that every PAX has a security screening for person and bags and is verified NOT to be on the TSA no fly list. Yes there can be be a gun or guns on board for the owners security, but anyone on the TSA no fly list can't even legally ride on a private B757.
Cheers, Doug
