I love it that part of the pitch is "improves workplace safety." Sure does... it removes the workers!

(IAM wages are so high that there is a business case for this sort of technology)

Boeing implemented very similar tech many years ago in Wichita on the 737 line. There are lots of big automated machines that drill & rivet most of a 737 fuselage. They needed those to make the rates, which are currently > 40 airplanes/month.

Good for Boeing, the Government wouldn't let them move so now they can just stay where they are at and eliminate a bunch of jobs. That will certainly lower their obama Care costs.

They also recently announced that the 787-10 will be built exclusively in Charleston SC.
