Do we have any experienced Husky members among us? I just bought a 2009 A-1C and am looking for pointers. I will have it on wheels for about a month, and then it goes to Wipaire for amphibs.

An RT Duke AND a Husky??!? Clearly you've done something right along the way.

Methinks you are one seriously spoiled pilot.

I have a good friend who flies a Husky. I'll see if I can scare up some advice for you. What specific advice are you looking for?

Brent-
I've owned two Husky's over the years, a 2001 A-1B and 2010 A1C, both 180 hp and have about 150 hours in them. They are great airplanes with a high fun factor. Congratulations! I'm no expert but would be happy to discuss Husky flying and ownership. PM or call anytime. 303-810-8049

I've owned a 1998 A1A for about three years. Great fun!

Almost 1,000 hours in an A-1B. Coast-to-coast, almost border-to-border and 38 Angel Flight missions. It's a hoot.

If you're not grinning, you're not doing it right.

You don't need to "lift the tail" on takeoff - she'll fly right off from the three-point attitude.

Don't try to land fast - it won't land.

It likes wheel landings more than full stall - tail-low, then braking to bring up the tail. Get used to this with a lot of practice or you'll wind up on the nose. The brakes are very effective with weight on the gear.

If it doesn't already have it, install the SGS system to minimize the rebound on firm landings. It's part of Tom Dietrich's STC'd mod for snow skis - STC SA02509NY.

Full stall landings will probably require power on to near touchdown. Gear in an aft baggage compartment or on a shelf above the battery will help with this forward CG landing quirk.

Practice elevator trim stalls at altitude before your first for-real go around. It can be an eye opener.

I've landed on taxiways, across the runway and in the grass to minimize the crosswind.

With a good headwind, I've landed and turned off before the approach-end numbers.

Fly the airplane to the chocks.

If you're not grinning, you're not doing it right.

Congrats on the tail dragger. So much fun to fly them. The Husky seems to be a great plane and I might have bought one myself but at 6'4" I had trouble fitting in it. Have fun and remember stick back and into the wind and keep those feet moving.
