All the discussion about Eclipse jets made me wonder how the Cirrus Jet is coming along. Google tells me that back in October they expected a first flight in early 2014. Well, it's almost March 2014. After seeing the mock-up at AOPA Summit, I am intrigued to see if Cirrus can get it to market at close to a Million and with performance specs they claim.

I thought the price had climbed to over $2 million.

Your right it was $2M. I'm still curious if they can pull this off.

A gentleman on the COPA forum reported that he was at the factory last week and conforming airframe number 1 had the engine hung, windows in, some of the interior and some other stuff. Originally, it was scheduled to fly by Valentine's day but he was told end of this month. Conforming airframe #2 is also under construction. So, there ought to be something reported soon.

IIRC the original price estimate was sub $1.5 million? There are a lot of place holders who will never buy the jet but who can transfer their delivery number and cost guarantee for a fairly small fee to Cirrus. One of the guys I know has slot #4, or close to it, and doesn't plan to take delivery. So, it will be interesting to see what the first couple of dozen owners actually pay. I'll bet it will be like people with NBA season tickets  .

I hope they get it to market soon. I don't want one but I think it'll really up the game for all manufacturers.
