I flew down to look at a Husky to buy today. This was a very nice plane at a discounted price. I was ready to buy until I tried to climb in. I am 6'2" and 230lbs. Front seat was hard to get Into and my knees only had a couple of inches of clearance to the bottom of panel. This plane also had the short panel mod.The seat is fixed and the pedals were all the way forward. The person who going to buy it with me is 6'5" and would never fit. I was surprised and disappointed the front seat was tight. I fit in the Citabria and scout just fine. Now back looking at scouts. Has anybody else had this problem in a husky? Jerry

Yep Yep Yep :peace: , I was all hot and heavy for one until I climbed in the front seat (6'3" 215 lbs), flew it and loved it (99' A1-B) but I just don't fit....yes there are some mods you can do to get an extra couple of inches but I still wouldn't be comfy.

You guys should try a Citabria. I'm 6'2", 215 and it's long and wide enough, very comfortable. Never flown a husky myself.

Don't know if this will fit what you're looking for but have you thought of or tried a Legend Cub? I'm 6'2 and when I flew this one particular Legend AL-11, I was 250 lbs. It's 29" wide and I had plenty of room in the front seat. Flew it from the front and back for an x-c trip for 13.5 hours in 2 days. No problems at all with fit or comfort. I think you can get them with 180hp engine. The one we flew cruised at 100. Glass panel or steam gauges.

Just a thought...

Or, the Cubcrafters Sport Cup or Carbon Cub.

Jerry, make a fun trip and fly up to Yakima, WA, to see how Cub Crafters makes those planes. It's impressive.

There's a mod for the Husky to put in foot wells at the bottom of the pedals. The original intent was for flying with winter boots, however taller pilots have reported better clearance for their bipedal transport units.

As for entry and exit, you gotta wanta.

Aviat has three different thicknesses of the front seat cushions, or you could possibly have Oregon Aero make a custom one.

With all of the improvemens that have been made to the Husky, I can't believe that this hasn't been addressed.

Regards,
Ron

I have a 1998 Husky, but I'm 5'8" so it's no problem for me. When a friend of mine who is about 6'3" stopped at the husky booth at AOPA, THE SALESMAN SAID HE WASNT EVEN GOING TO TRY TO SELL HIM ONE. this seems stupid to me as it would be no problem to remove the rear stick (one screw) and make the front seat so it would slide back about 3". Problem solved. May take an A&P sign off and about 30 minutes to move the seat back and forth, so no one tries to put the rear stick in with the seat back. After all a lot of Bonanzas have only one control wheel.

Well, I *was* jonesing for a Husky!

Are the Citabrias and Scouts that much different than a Champ? I can kind of squeeze into a Champ, and much prefer flying from the back because I fit better. In the front I bang my knees on stuff and can barely fit them under the instrument panel.

I used to own a citabria. It had an adjustable front seat and lots of room. Scouts use the same airframe as the citabrias.

Airframe dimensions on the entire AC line are the same. The wings are different from model to model as well as most engines.

That's what I thought, but maybe the insides are constructed differently enough that they fit a little different?
