He probably wouldn't use it if this is just a normal vacation trip. My guess is he'd use it if he was trying to document a record and/or flying for hours in the middle of nowhere.
Or, this could be a sort of test flight...

From our Lancair list this morning: Quote: It's official. I got news this morning that the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale in Switzerland has ratified the Guam - Jacksonville flight (7,051 nm) in our Lancair IV as a World Record for distance in class C1d (Landplane, internal combustion engine(s), 1750 - 3000 kg). Woohoo! Pretty amazing what these Lancairs can do.
