RARE 1959 26’ Chris Craft Sea Skiff Fisherman
This is a fantastic wooden boat that is used regularly. Most vessels of this era have sat outside, deteriorating away in the elements only to meet their demise in the scrap yard. On the contrary, this meticulously maintained Sea Skiff has seen primarily indoor storage throughout its existence. When not in enclosed storage, the vessel has been slipped for the summers under a brand new mooring cover that goes down to the waterline. One of the great things about this boat is that it is easily trailered on a 2014 model tandem axle Load-Rite Elite aluminum trailer. This gives you the ability to easily take it out of the water in the off-season for storage and maintenance as well as launching it for short trips if that is your goal. The overhauled twin engines work marvelously, adding reliability, extra power, and increased maneuverability. This has been our family’s vessel since 2018 at Lake Powell where we would take “expedition” style trips of 5-7 days regularly. This Chris-Craft turns heads - be prepared to answer all the questions from folks looking in awe at this masterpiece of American marine history.
Engines:
Engine 1: Hercules KL 105HP ~100 Hours S/N: 203843
Engine 2: Hercules KL 105P ~200 Hours S/N: 203841
12v Electrical Conversion (no more generators) with new alternators
Electronic ignition (no more maintaining the points)
2 sets of bronze propellers pitched for higher altitudes
Hull:
Lapstrake Hull - Layered marine plywood overlapping and glued/riveted from the factory in 1959. The advantage of this is no caulking of seams as seen in other caravel construction Chris-Crafts as well as a bottom that requires less time to “soak-up” compares to other hull designs. CPES applied in 2018, and Interlux bottom paint has been applied biannually.
Philippine mahogany is utilized for all the topside brightwork, sealed with Epifanes varnish. Chrome, Stainless, and brass fittings all around. Hollandlac Marine paint on the decks and sides, mimicking the original Sea Skiff color scheme of the era.
Electronics/Equipment:
Raritan Marine Toilet (2023), Full mooring Cover (2023), Custom Teak Swim Platform (2022), Interior Upholstery (2021), Full Exterior Enclosure and Bimini (2021), Lithium-Ion house battery system (2023), Iceco Refrigerator/Freezer (2023), Garmin GPS/Sounder, Trim Tab System updated (2023), Washdown System (2021), Many other updates and maintenance items replaced over the last 6 years of ownership.
