IME it will take a LOT of measuring before you drop a new V8 into an old truck. Weight, front springs, steering column and pedal location & clearance, transmission clearance, support and linkage, new drive shaft, rearend gearing, wallet contents....
No gain in $$ value either unless the truck is perfect. Good to know. Not really my area of expertise anyway. I would consider a trade for mid 2000’s and up corvette. Preferably manual tranny. This truck just really isn’t my arena. Was picked up by my Dad a few years back

I swear I read your post and missed it. I bad wanted a 38-41 era truck about 4 years ago. Brand didn't matter, I just wanted one with the headlights mounted on the fenders. Found a one owner Dodge in original condition in Iowa then bad weather set in. By the time the snow thawed, I had cooled off. I don't know what it is worth, but I do know that trucks of that vintage vary greatly in value depending on condition and some of the slightest differences. Nice truck. You should keep it. Apparently they aren't making anymore. Jg

Thank you John. I just don’t have the knowledge to keep it running the way it deserves. But at least it’s in the desert and shouldn’t rust. If someone wants to make me an offer or come see it. Great. Otherwise I guess she will sit in the garage for a while and see what the market does

Brandon,
Sticking my nose in somebody else's business, but------
That trucks value, IMO, is directly tied to two original it is. If you leave original then you have to gas all the way to a custom hot rod which, to me, is blasphemy. You didn't show any pics of the interior, but it is the same way. Original gives value. If it were mine, I would be looking for everything to make the engine compartment original., and the interior, and the bed, and the interior.
Three quarter tons are usually not quite as valuable, again, IMO. Paint must be of an original color. When I was looking, I found a great old Dodge, completely original, except the owner in a fit of insanity had painted it a custom color. The value went from $25,000 to nuthin' for a purist like me. He told me he did it because his wife liked the color. Well, maybe the idiot wife should have bought it.
The truck will sell instantly in several venues, but likely for something other than you expect. Most buyers in this market are savvy as hell and you won't fool them for a second. Also, there are dealers who specialize in the old stuff scattered across the country. They will turn it into money for you in 24 hours.
Jg
