This is a Viking 8 person life raft.

It is not mine, I am advertising it for a friend.

The DOM is 2015. It was last re-certified in January of 2023, so it is not due its next recertification/ service until January of 2026. (See Photos). I guess if you are feeling lucky, it is my understanding that it does not require re-certification for part 91 operations. (PLEASE VERIFY THIS). 15 months left on the current certification.

I have all of the paperwork that I can email anyone that is seriously interested in the raft which includes the last recertification paperwork.

This is a big raft with a top and a covered front deck! Everything except for a kitchen sink.

The last certification in 2023 was the best I recall either $2,100 or $2,600.

I'm not in the market but $250 seems dirt cheap if certification isn't necessary for part 91. Heck for $250 it would make a nice novelty pool float. I've got the perfect party in mind! (no green font needed)

None the less, let’s try $1,250.00 on this one. This one is definitely Aviation approved / certified. FOB KOMN “Ormond Beach, FL”. At $1,250 must be FOB my hangar at KOMN. I am not giving it away and fooling with LTL freight also.

Any less than that and I will donate it to the US Coastguard Auxiliary.

Another way to say it is in another 15 months you get to spend another 2100 to 2500.

I believe the recertification is just a “Cost of doing business” if you want a life raft, correct”?
And it still has 15 months left, out of the 36.

I would counter you at $1,000. If it doesn’t bring $1,000 then it will get donated, and I think I will make the end of this coming weekend the cut off. If it doesn’t bring $1,000 by the end of the day Sunday I will donate it.

I tried to look at your location “Steve Hake”, to see how FOB would work for you …. but your profile isn’t complete? A quick Google search shows a Steve Hake that is a CPA, he is a long ways away from me, another one is a PhD, also a long ways away from me, and last, but not least, a Steve Hake that sells “Big Rigs”, but his profile isn’t complete either …. so I can’t tell where that mystery man is located either .

Recertification not required, although it is a good idea. Most pilots only recertify before an upcoming flight when it is needed. In other words, it stays stored in a dry place, perhaps for years, until a month or so before the flight, then it is sent out for recertification, if desired.

How does that price sounds if you have to put your plane down in the water I live in a desert and I fly over large bodies of water a lot. Ditching survivability is very very high, and when people die, it is often drowning. Given the choice of potential sudden stop on land with fire, and a ditching, I find myself looking at bodies of water. Even with the recent cost, pretty good deal. But if you get a raft, spend the time and money on a ditching course, and if possible get some in the water training with the type of raft you have. Like if it deploys upside down, how do you right it? How do you get in wet, in regular clothes, wearing a flotation device?

I have an update on the “Packed Size”, it is 15” X 15” X 30”, so it’s not all that large all packed up … but it does weight around 100 (106) pounds.

The package looks like new. It hasn’t been thrown around and has always been stored in a climate controlled hangar when not in the airplane. (Trips only).
