Attachment: GDU700P.jpg Why was I thinking these were assembled in Taiwan? You can't believe everything you read on the internet. : )

There may be a reason it is worded from Garmin that way... That labelling is basically equivalent to “Made in USA from foreign and domestic components.” Translation: most everything inside was made elsewhere, and it was all put together here.

Garmin doesn’t make anything plug n play Definitely not plug and play but IIRC a G500Txi can use the same ADC/AHRS and magnetometer as a legacy G500. IOW you shouldn't need to replace other components but you will need to rewire some stuff.
But I'm not sure why someone would use a portrait Txi to replace a legacy G500.

There may be a reason it is worded from Garmin that way... Because electronic components are made everywhere. Even the same part number can come from different factories on difference continents from one batch to the next. I can think of a TI part that's in my cabinet right now that I have 3 different origins in stock. Made in US, China and Austria. Same part, same part number, all bought directly from TI.
