I bought this JPI unit 2 years ago and have really loved it. I just finished a full panel upgrade with all Garmin units. The G3X has very good engine analysis thus the tough decision to sell this JPI 830.

This is a Cadillac little box, I have just installed one and really like it. If the head unit is only 2 years old you should be good to go, but if it is running an older software revision here’s my advice (for what it’s worth): call JPI and request the new software. It’s a little bit of a hassle since they have to have the unit in hand, but they will basically overhaul it for you for the equivalent of a bench test fee. It’s very reasonable and quick.

Also, take a little extra time and hook up the rs232 to/from your gps navigator. The 830 becomes a mini flight data recorder and outfits like Savvy can overlay your position on the engine parameters…. Think geo-referenced engine data. Very cool.
