Is this usable in lieu of bottled oxygen?

I've never heard of such a thing, but for the price, you've got my attention.

I have an Inogen that I got through a different company. Got rid of my bottles and MH o2d2 system once I learned about the Inogen line of products. I no longer have to deal with the pain of getting my bottles refilled (1h30m roundtrip) or the expense. Only downside is that unlike the bottles, the usable altitude is a bit lower. It's 18,000 feet for one person and I believe 14,500 for two. These days, I don't fly that high with two anyways so it's never been much a concern. I leave it plugged in to the cigarette lighter and it's fully charged all the time.

Yes it can replace the bottled o2 that you have. We always suggest having your bottle full just in case you need it. The Inogen unit will not fill tanks.

The way those last few words are written might lead people to mistakenly conclude that they can fill up their bottles with the Inogen. I have an Inogen 3 and like it a lot.

Sorry wasn’t trying to imply that you can fill your tank. The G5 can provide up to 6LPM for 6.5 hours at 1lpm. If the unit is plugged into ac or dc power it will charge and run 24/7.

I used an Inogen G5 today for the first time feeding two people at 15,000 MSL. My O2Sat stayed in the 90-93% range which is the same as I get with an O2D2. We did notice that there's a bit of an interaction with two people breathing on one G5 in that if one person took a breath shortly after the other, there was no flow to the second due to a minimum period between O2 pulses.

Lance,

What was the setting (number)?

We have used a unit serving two people up to 15,000, set to #5, 93% and 95%. In general we use 2 units when 14,000-17,500.

This was the first time I used it so I used the max setting (6). At 15k it was definitely putting out enough O2 for the two of us even though some of it was clearly being wasted (e.g. when it pulsed for my copilot while I was exhaling) and vice versa).

If you want to fill your own bottle use a devillbiss ifill system with an adapter or use ifill tanks that have the pulse regulator already installed. Works great and is low enough in moisture that it won’t freeze up in the tank.

I have a couple of the PreciseFlight PulseOx devices. I wonder if those could be set up in such a way as to be a workaround the out of sync pulsing?

My guess is your Precise Flight mechanical pulse delivery devices require something like 100 PSI of continuous O2 in order to work properly. I think it might be possible to design an electronic control with pressure sensors and solenoid valves to deliver the bolus to only the person who is breathing in at the time (maybe when I've got nothing better to do). Maybe just a very sensitive "flip-flop" mechanical valve would suffice.
