We pulled the IFD-540 out of the 195 yesterday to send to Avidyne for "rebuild" and yellow tag. The com/nav had a red X. We slid in the 530 that I had on the shelf that no one seems to want to purchase and, frankly, for the 195 it is more than sufficient.
The IFD-540 is for sale when it gets back yellow tagged, for $12,750. The unit and screen are blemish free. PN:700-00182-000, SN:M184339466.

The response to this offering has been underwhelming. Buyers are staying away in droves. Something tells me the aircraft market has turned. Jg

Not that it help you sell your GPS, but a couple of weeks ago I was looking for a used IFD 540 to buy. I didn't find one, so I bought a new one. Too bad for both of us the timing didn't work out.

What's the street price for a new 540 these days? That could have an impact on the market? I love my 550. Incredibly intuitive and user friendly.

Jg I miss the 540 I had in my Cherokee Six. This is a terrific price for a very capable piece of equipment. Unfortunately, if I put a 540 in the Baron, I have to play Panel Jenga to make it fit and that makes it unreasonable from a cost / downtime perspective compared to sticking in another IFD440, or I'd already have sent you a check.

Garmin makes great stuff, but the IFD540 is just better. If you are considering a GTN750 or 650 I strongly recommend you give the Avidyne a look. After a couple hours you won't go back. Especially for IFR.
