For sale: like-new, never-installed Precise Flight, Inc. PulseLite Control Unit.

Model: 1210 / 2405 - 2A
Voltage: 12 VDC / 24 VDC

Comes in original box. Unit has never been removed from the bag except to take the attached photo.

Also includes all paperwork from the box, including installation instructions, diagrams, the STC, and instructions for continued airworthiness, along with the factory hardware in an unopened bag.

Reason for selling: too much going on at the last two annuals, so my mechanic could never find time to install. Ended up going with a different solution.

Purchased new from BT's own Gallagher Aviation in 2020 (click for more info). It's been stored indoors ever since.

Asking price: $500 (same price as last time) via Venmo or PayPal F&F, will ground ship to lower 48 at no extra charge.

Two questions...

Bo only, or any certified aircraft?

Can it be used on the wingtip navigation lights?

Thanks!

Ease of wiring and installation to the switch and switch placement?

And where is normal placement of the main unit?

I see the wiring diagram above.
Compared to the pictured package, there are two larger rectifier diodes in the package that do not show in the wiring diagram. Any idea what they may have been for?

This was the diode plate I had on my Pulslight installation

2.7 DIODE INSTALLATION
High current diodes are supplied with some Pulselite kits to isolate the outputs where appropriate.
The use of diodes is not usually required when using a two pole switch, or when pulsing both
lamps simultaneously.
Where a single pole switch is used to control two lamps that are to be pulsed alternately, the
diodes prevent one channel from feeding back to the common switch connection and lighting both
lamps at the same time. The diodes are installed between the switch and the lamps, with the
Pulselite output wires on the lamp side of the diode. Power flows through both diodes to illuminate
both lamps when the light switch is in the steady on position.
Some aircraft use a mechanically interlocking switch, or a switch and diode arrangement to
illuminate both landing and taxi lights when the switch is in the landing position. A single diode
would be required in this case to prevent pulsed power to the landing light from feeding power to
the taxi light as well.
If the Pulselite is used to pulse two lamps, normally fed from differing busses of a multiple buss
system, a diode must be installed to prevent voltage from the Pulselite’s lamp input power (Red
wire) from back-feeding into the other buss.
The body of the stud mounted diodes provided is electrically hot, with the threaded stud being the
cathode connection. Because battery voltage will be present on the diode, it must not be allowed
to come in contact with metal or other wiring. When diodes are required, it is recommended they
be mounted on a phenolic insulator secured to the aircraft. This phenolic insulates the diodes from
aircraft ground and from each other. Heavy current through the diodes can cause them to become
very hot, use a heat resistant material, not acrylic.

Thanks for pulling out the description from the installation manuals Espen.
I then went to the preciseflight.com website to their installation manual section afterwards.

So looks like James Gallagher must have set up his pulse light system, (after looking at his video at the link above) with the diodes so the two landing lights operated by one SPST switch (meaning one power switch one power output to two landing lights,) must have used the diodes so he could have the alternating landing lights instead of simultaneous. Correct James?

Meaning one diode inline in each power wire after the SPST switched output, to the separate landing lights, and the pulse light bringing power in down line to each landing light after the inline diode to get alternate pulses.

I have one of these units on my Baron controlling light pulse of recognition lights or recognition + landing lights, all LEDs. Pulse can be synced or wig-wag. Landing lights or recognition lights switches override the pulse when placed to the on position. Pulse frequency can be selected as well. The PulseLite takes more effort to install but offers more flexibility with results using diodes than some other options, in my opinion. The only restriction as to the number of lights to flash is max current draw per channel.

What would be the best pulse setup with recog lights and nose mounted landing/taxi light?

Both recog lights together, alternating with landing/taxi?

Just recog lights alternating?

Some pattern of all 3?

If the nose light is a landing (narrow beam) and as bright as the wing lights I'd consider alternating the wing lights vs nose light. But flashing a taxi light on the nose isn't going to be much help. It is likely that alternating the left and right wing lights will be the most noticeable option and depending on your wing lights the Pulselite may not be able to drive both on at the same time due to current limits.
