This is a never-installed 406 ELT from Emerging Lifesaving Technologies in Texas. (
https://www.eltechnolgies.com/ ) It has an integrated GPS so that it doesn't require a connection to a panel-mount unit. The blade antenna handles both GPS and ELT. The kit includes the unit, tray, switch, coax, hardware and connectors, and antenna.
The battery is expired, but Spruce has new ones for $229.
I got curious with the antenna and wanted to look inside, and managed to break a screw on the big coax connector before I changed my mind! It must've been sealed with red loctite or similar. The other 3 are still intact.
Why am I selling? I bought it from someone else that changed their mind, thinking I could install the antenna under a fiberglass dorsal fin on my Mooney. I'm finally doing some mods and upgrades, and discovered that it will not fit as I had hoped! Many years ago I saw a presentation from the inventor and was completely sold on the design and execution, and am disappointed it won't work for me.
Hopefully someone else has been procrastinating and can use it (with a fresh battery!)
$600 + shipping. I believe these are $1400-1500 retail but I couldn't find any at the usual distributors.
