Does anyone have an idea, what might be wrong?

Have you checked the voltage where the wires terminate at the LED? If not, check it without the bulb and with the circuit loaded with the bulb.

Andreas I'm not a mechanic but I'd check for a lose connection somewhere in the wiring. If you think the lamp is bad, here is a link to the warranty procedure. I've never seen a G3 fail before but certainly possible.

Hi James,

did exactly that - turned out it was a bad ground wire. Replaced it and now it's fine!

Thanks for your advice!

I have an excellent inventory of these PAR-36 and PAR-46 G3 LED landing and taxi lights. The PAR-36 size (4.5" diameter) comes as a taxi light (50 degree flood light) or a landing light (12 degree spot light). For many later model Bonanzas, you need the PAR-36 size for your nose bowl and the lamp on your landing gear. For older model Bonanzas you are looking at the larger PAR-46 size. The mid sixties models saw many V tails with a PAR-46 size lamp on the nose gear (it is the non-steerable light fixture) so I recommend installing a G3 PAR-36 taxi light in the nose bowl because the PAR-46 size only comes as a landing light. If you order today, they ship today.

Here are two photos comparing the G3 in a Baron to the incandescent lamp it replaces. The G3 makes a big difference! I have an excellent inventory of these lamps in stock and ready to ship.

The G3 LED landing and taxi lights are on sale for $269.10 each through Sunday August 7th. I have an excellent inventory of the PAR-36 size in the landing and taxi light versions, plus the PAR-46 landing light model. Here are the links to the website where they are automatically discounted.

I just shipped a ship set for a 58 Baron (2 landing and 1 taxi) and I have an excellent inventory of the G3 in landing and taxi light versions for the PAR-36 size (4.5" diameter) and the landing light version in the PAR-46 version (5.75" diameter). These are a worthy upgrade compared to first or second generation LED landing lights, and definitely compared to GE incandescent bulbs.

Is it possible to add more :). I have 5 and I think I'm at my physical limit with the M-35.

My plane came with 2 Parmetheus Plus lights mounted on the MLG that are my only taxi/landing lights. The Plus work fine but when James sent out the OSH specials I decided to take advantage and upgrade to the G3. When I first tried to install them we ran into an issue. As soon as I turned on the battery switch the lights came on. Digging up the schematics, my plane switches to ground to activate. We eventually figured out there is an extended bit of the heatsink that isn't there on the Plus model. You can see it here:
Attachment:
PXL_20230811_201712245.jpg

This tab was touching the housing and grounding the light; despite that the documentation states that the heatsink is electrically isolated from the negative terminal. I reached out to James who contacted WAT. No answer on why the heatsink was connected to the negative terminal but he did confirm that we could remove the tab. So a little hacksaw and dremel work and it was gone:

Now to the results. I haven't yet flown with them but so far, I LOVE THEM. Here is a side-by-side. Parmetheus Plus on the right (viewer's right/aircraft's port) and G3 on the left:
Attachment:
G3Front.jpg

The G3 is warmer and visibly brighter although my initial thought was that it could just be a wider angle sending more light to my eyes.

But then I turned around and looked at the hangar door (I don't know how to turn off the lights and didn't want to go ask). Again, G3 on the right, Plus on the left. You can barely tell the left is on while the right is really lighting up the door.

Finally, here is the hangar door with both G3s installed:

May have a night flight in a few weeks. I am looking forward to it!

With the days getting shorter and nights longer, the need for good landing and taxi lighting is becoming more important, which is something the G3 can provide for you. Below are two photos from a Baron comparing a standard incandescent lamp to the G3 LED landing light. If you have a first or second generation Whelen Parmetheus or Parmetheus Plus lamp, the G3 is a worthy investment. I have an excellent inventory of the PAR-36 size (4.5" diameter) LED landing and taxi lights, and the PAR-46 size (5.75" diameter) for the earlier model Bonanzas.
