Lynx NGT 9000 D+ , This is the one with all the features , everything in the box is new , unit was thrown in a customers plane , as a loaner , customers unit ( The one I'm selling) was sent in for overhaul , and customer never came back for exchange , So the unit is a factory overhaul , that has been shelved for 3 + years ... What release software does it have? You mention it has "all the features" Does that mean the unit has the unlock activations codes for active traffic included?

Well I thought you’d know since youre selling it but I did just email and this is what they said The Function activation is a 10-digit code that is entered during installation using the MPC (MAT) to install either of these options. The function activation may be purchased and shipped with the unit. If the function activation code is not included, contact ACSS After Market Customer Service to obtain the code. Be sure to have the Mode S ID (e.g. ICAO) available for the service representative. The function activation is associated with the aircraft ICAO address and will only work for that aircraft . So basically if you don’t have it this is just another base unit and the codes won’t be reissued to a new tail number Username Protected wrote: What release software does it have? Hey Josh,
You are quite correct. The additional features are functions of software unlock codes and this is likely a "base unit" without "all the features". Unfortunately, ACSS includes "D" (diversity) and "+" (TAS/TCAS) in all their model nos. which imply those functions are included, but they actually just indicate un-activated hardware capabilities are available. This undoubtedly leads to considerable confusion, not just on Alan's part, but most all who reference ACSS literature for guidance as to features.
FWIW, if you're looking for TAS/TCAS functionality, it would also require an (expensive) directional antenna and three (3) specialized coax cables costing $8-10/foot plus a considerable amount of installation labor. The software enablement cost would likely pale in comparison to that expense. If you happen to have an existing L3/Goodrich Skywatch system though, it would interface seamlessly and be well-worth the additional enablement cost.
Diversity would not be as bad, since it only requires an additional top-mounted L-Band antenna using standard 142/400 coax, but ACSS recently issued an SB recommending incorporation of Mod D for diversity units, so that would add some to the project.
Hope that helps!
Victor

I have a skywatch system and would re-use the compatible antenna and coax Username Protected wrote: Hey Josh,

Josh,
We just replaced a Skywatch TCR-497 system with an NGT w/TAS enablement and it worked out great. We're a fleet operator with a half-dozen of these in service and our guys love the added TAS capability (they can even see military aircraft). Also, ACSS just released system software v4.0 which includes a few cool options regarding TAS/TCAS setup and Alan's price is reasonable for this box even without the enablement code.
Please feel free to PM me with a phone # and we can chat about the details.
