F & N Oil Filter Adapter C6LC.

Removed from the IO-470N on my Bonanza.

Now for all the controversy surrounding this; and the 15 page thread running on it that I am sure someone will bring up.

I thought that there was leakage from this adapter, in spite of the torque seal not being broken and it being fully safetied in position. I followed the SB instructions and found that it was compliant other than what I assumed was a seep from the lower gasket. It was solidly installed on the aircraft. In fact IT DID NOT LEAK.

Turns out the the leakage in that area of the engine was from a different source (garlock seal) and had just wicked into the adapter area.

With too much of an abundance of caution I had it removed and replaced with an AirWolf remote filter. By the time the dust settled that was a couple AMU's. In retrospect, I should have left this adapter on the airplane and saved myself some money. Call it "BT Neuroticism" after reading that 15 page thread.

In any case you can see by the pictures the gasket was never compromised. In my humble opinion as long as the installation instructions are followed implicitly this adapter should never give anyone any problems. I cannot tell you how long it has been since this adapter was installed as I am not going through reams of logbooks. What I can tell you is that the torque seal was quite old indicating that it had been in place for quite a while.

My pain, is your gain.

$250.00 with fresh gaskets + shipping. A laser cut and micrometer measured chunk of wood for installation on a Bonanza is included!

Will this fit a IO470J engine.
I have the screen (I'm guessing original) and looking for a better solution.
Does it come with the STC paperwork ?
Thank you

Eric

From my understanding it should fit all the O-470 engines.

I will have to look through the logs for the STC paperwork.
