Does the NGT-9000 if it were hooked to a Aspen with Stec3100, and a Gtn650xi with Fs510 have any problems with the BS of Garmin not accepting display info from non Garmin units?

Sorry to ask yous guys but the advertisements for both units really don't help me to much.

As well will the NGT-9000 support be the same as Garmin, or better.

Is it harder for a installer to deal with or easier integrating it to all the above.

It would be bad to get into a trap where Garmin someday offers TCAS and you can't easily install it because because you had wired in something else. Or vice versa..

Or have a problem displaying weather or stormscope info on Aspen or 650xi.

I hope that weather and traffic can be displayed on both 650xi and Aspen Max PFD, from the 9000.

But is it only adsb in traffic or is it all transponder equipped aircraft shown? Like the old Traffic Watch https://www.monroyaero.com/ATD300Webpage8.pdf

Nice to know traffic and weather can be displayed on 9000 on its own. And not have to worry about buttons wearing out.

Now bring in a storm scope and geez sounds like there may be too much info to display on any one screen or not even be able to display traffic, weather, and lightning at the same time on any one screen. Have no idea what you can put on any of the above screens at any one time.

Edit: Just viewed that video. It spoke at the end of receivable information to the WingX Efb which I do use. But, what about Garmin pilot and Foreflight; why not mention them. Compatability?

Nothing said about updates/revisions and database. Any needed? I saw that it has a USB type insert on the face? Does it need a subscription also compared with the gtx345? Oh boy so much possible questions. Phone calls need to be made. Geez Aspen, Stec3100, Garmin gtn650xi, Lynx NGT 9000 compatability revisions updates wtf I'm going to bed I've been working in the hangar non stop since yesterday afternoon time now 1127est.

Not sure if this will help Michael out, but will give it a try...

We are a fleet operator using both the NGT-9000 and GTX-345. All the GTX-345s are tied to GTN-750s in order to take advantage of Garmin's exclusive "Target Trend" function (which is pretty cool). Note the NGT-9000 will also display traffic on a GTN, but only in standard symbology format. Target Trend is not available on the GNS series with any transponder, however, so we pair those (530Ws) with NGT-9000s and can display standard traffic (including ATAS) on either or both units simultaneously.

Reliability has been a bit better with the Garmin as we have never had a failure with any of GTX series transponder (we run 330ES as #2 systems). We have had a couple failures with the NGT, though they were early serial number units and repaired under warranty. The GTX is somewhat easier to install according to our "avionics dude".

The NGT-9000 does have a one advantage that we really appreciate, which is the ability to do software updates ourselves. Especially as a fleet operator, having to run to a Garmin dealer every couple/few months for software updates on multiple units in multiple airplanes can be a real PIA. L3 provides free downloadable updates and a Windows installation program. We use a laptop to program through the mini USB port you noted on the front. The process is fairly simple so long as you follow the instructions, but you must have a working knowledge of the technical aspects surrounding ADS-B in order to correctly program the operating parameters. If not, ATC might see your J3 as C5 (or not at all), so it would probably be best to leave it to a pro.

Regarding Stormscope, we use those too, but display on the GTN, GNS and/or an MFD rather than the NGT due to its smaller screen size (though it is capable).

Regarding subscriptions, the NGT does use a Jeppesen terrain database which (I think) is around $70 for a one-shot, but we don't bother updating it since that data is already on the 530Ws and the mountains don't tend to move much.

Hope that helps a little bit.

Victor
