Nice job Scott.
I'm liking my CiES fuel senders. Thanks for a great product.

CiES uses magnetism to sense the angle - but it's still a float right? So in the bonanza it wouldn't solve the problem of a leaking cap causing the bladder to collapse and push up the float? Just curious. I get that accuracy is good - but also looking for a solution to floats reading wrong not because of accuracy but because of mechanical interference.

Jeremy:

So no matter which method you use. to a great degree accuracy and reading will be affected. You can physically restrain the bladder beneath the sender location but to what benefit.

Lucky for us the characteristic of the condition is predictable if you have a level that only goes to half tank and stops you have a bladder issue.

Yes random fuel level followed by more random fuel level tells you nothing

But accurate fuel level that has an unexpected result indicates a tank problem

Weirdly people attribute all sorts of issues to floats, and it was never the reason for poor performance.

sweet looking Cardinal. Came in pretty hot on that landing at the end though . . .

Yes I think there was a bit of videographer license on that shot. it is a narrow strip with obstructions on that end, so the approach is interesting. In real life it looked fine, but I liked the drama the final edit placed on that element. I wish I could have afforded to get him a G3X unit for the aircraft.

Nice little video! I just hope my wife is less nervous when I am out flying.

Hi Scott,

I just ordered 4 units for installation in a few weeks. I'm excited to see them in action!

Thanks,

Martin: We noticed at Oshkosh that the female spouse of a male pilot or pilot pair was most concerned about running out of fuel. In some cases the interest was in polar opposition.

We have had several instances over several years where a wife has dragged the husband over to our booth after visiting say Garmin with the approximate statement - "You got what you wanted for the plane, now this is what I want."

This couple is one of our customers and she was hesitant about flying because of the fuel gauge - These weren't actors, so she just put together her apprehension for the aircraft fuel quantity system and it comes across in a very real way.

Not being marketing geniuses - we figured we would just go with it - and added a little artistic license.

Hey I have a lot of my engineering work on Cirrus Aircraft. I have a need to save my engineering effort.

Only REGRET - Woulda / Shoulda / Coulda I have with regard to my entire C182Q 2016-2017 makeover was that I did not have CiES Fuel Senders installed in the Mains, and particularly the newly added Aux Tanks all tied digitally to my then new JPI EDM 930

An error I’ll sadly correct someday soon, at a cost now probably double of what it would could have been THEN, had CiES Fuel Senders been added as a part of the original makeover

Every LOSER has a Story...... That’s “Mine”

Stay Tuned

PS - Great Video

Great video Scott. Just a little over a year with your senders connected to a JPI 930; FLAWLESS! Thank you for making such a great product.

I must be the only one with fairly accurate resistive fuel senders in an airplane. The only time I noticed a concerning difference between what the fuel gauges said I had in the tanks vs. what the fuel totalizer said I should have in the tanks was when I actually had an in-flight fuel leak.

There is no question in my mind that when the day comes that my traditional fuel senders become old and unreliable, I will replace them with CiES senders. But that day isn't here yet.

I installed the CiES senders and ASL Gauge last year and they are accurate and I trust them. We did an owner assisted install so that was fun and a good project for the owner because it isn’t a lot of skill work per se, but a lot of labor hrs to remove the old system and put in the new one. It is rewarding too.

I’ve flown few times off grass where I didn’t want extra weight so departed home base with just enough gas to go there and RTB with my conservative reserves. As we know in the Bo we need 13 gallons each tank to takeoff, but you can’t really see the fuel is at 13 gallons by visual inspection.

They work both ways to enhance safety no too much extra weight and I now how much is in the tanks. I do a few AF or PALS flights and even though some of the bigger airports offer a fuel discount it is still expensive. I RTB from New York one time and had to take an unexpected 45 min detour around WX and IFR routings combo time to get home. I landed with exactly my reserve gas and I knew I would have that amount the whole flight - two ways with the JPI 830 totalizer and the ASL conforming (or vice versa) the total remaining. When I filled back up both were spot on with the fuel levels.

PS - that was my wife at OSH saying ok you can buy this, no Joke.
