Do people replace their vacuum AI with these?
What is the "typical" install hours (hrs X 100 = cost) for a piston single (182, A36, etc)

What is the "typical" install hours (hrs X 100 = cost) for a piston single (182, A36, etc) This is certified as a standby instrument , It does a lot , Attitude , altitude and airspeed tapes , turn and slip , and a battery backup built in , This is the A version so it has been upgraded at the factory with the newest software … 3400 new , so its a great deal....

A very tempting option as a backup system. No intention to stomp here, but does the 340A now address the issues that some had with the 340? For example, if one installs this in a "floating panel" will it behave properly?

Interesting, I didn't know it could replace the primary AI. I never found that on the Sandia website, it only says "it can serve as a cost effective replacement for steam-gauge standby instruments in retrofit EFIS equipped aircraft" or "it can also be an excellent safety enhancing addition to your traditional six pack panel."

I called (no pickup, so left VM) and emailed Sandia with teh direct question - for single engine (less than 6,000 lbs) Bo or Cessna (-36 / - 35 series) or 172/182/210, can i throw away my AI and put this in its place.
The FAQs are conflicting - 1 says "yes you can" the other says, "ask the FAA"
The answer to that question is the one question i would like resolved definitely in order for me to move forward.
