On my 55, the oil Access door is on the same spot on both cowlings, have to stand on the left side of the engine to access it. I don’t believe they are different, not as far as I know anyway. If they are I am hosed, I already pulled the left engine off of mine in anticipation of a rebuild engine that will be here today that came off of the right side of another aircraft.

That’s possible. I just left the airport and looked at all three engines, and the oil dipstick location is identical. I can’t see any discernible difference between left or right engines sitting off the plane.
The dipstick itself may be different. I will check on that this weekend when we actually mount the engine.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the right engine dipstick is at the bottom of the dihedral and the left engine is at the top of the dihedral.
The dipsticks are different.

Simple thought... if you're putting these on a baron, you probably already have engines you're removing... take the dipstick off the old engine and swap it if its wrong? These are used engines so you're probably going to have to swap an item here and there anyways, like the exhaust? Guess my post did not go through:
What year were the engines overhauled? Which engine is a standard rotation engine? VAR cranks?
Thanks,
Tim

Hello everybody, Sorry was offline yesterday. Answers. $7500 engine 1720.9 hours since factory reman 4/27/87. Runs fine compressions last annual on 4/14/19. #1 76/80,#2 68/80,#3 68/80,#4 74/80,#5 77/80,#6 69/80. $15500 engine 939.4 hours since factory reman 6/18/98. Compressions last annual on 4/14/19. #1 63/80, #2 77/80, #3 63/80, #4 57/80, #5 61/80, #6 63/80. I am 100% sure the only difference between right and left is the actual dipstick. If it matters to anyone, the low time engine is currently on the left side. Cheers, Doug
