If you change the orginal 12V nav light to your wing tip system, what is the net change in amperage? Do you have to add a CB to the panel or can you route the power through the old nav light CB? Thanks Tom Goodwin

Thanks Tom Goodwin Hi Tom, if you are using something like a Norman Lamp 7512-12, they are pulling about half an amp. Call it 0.50. The 14V Orion 650E LED nav light draws 0.30 amp a side so you are saving .40 amps just with the navigation lights. With the strobes it is more significant but it is dependent on your strobe power supply. The Orion 650E strobe averages 0.70 amp a side with a peak of 3.6 amps. A Whelen HDACF strobe power supply takes a constant 7 amps but you probably have a Grimes box in there so not exactly sure what model or the power draw on that. Everyone uses the existing switches and circuit breakers to the best of my knowledge. I just shipped out a 28V 72170 5 light kit and I have an excellent inventory of these in both 14V and 28V.

My wingtip kits are 10% off through Friday, December 6th and we have an excellent inventory of them in 14V and 28V. They feature the new Whelen 72170 series LED recognition light (10 degree is standard) and we should have the AML amended by the FAA this week to include P Barons, TC Barons, Dukes, and pretty much every other Bonanza and Baron that was left off the initial AML. The bottom line is that the STC will cover every Bonanza, Baron, and Duke out there (as long as you have wrap around wingtip lenses). Forgive my ignorance, is the bonanza bottom beacon required or can you buy just the one on the tail and be legal?

You need to look at your Bonanza's equipment list because it may have been certified with a belly beacon. It's not a show stopper, removal of the belly beacon will need some paperwork from a mechanic. The beacon on the vertical stabilizer will provide compliant anti-collision lighting coverage in accordance with the TSO. So yes, the tail only will work.
