Thanks Bodi LTE Cat-M1 sim card. It's possible, but the whole system is pretty integrated with Verizon.
By integrated with verizon, I suppose you mean your app is integrated with verizon? Can I send text commands to the box from any network and phone and will the commands be made available?
Thanks, Bodi

Can I send text commands to the box from any network and phone and will the commands be made available? Short version: The box doesn't use SMS. All the app needs is an internet connection. It doesn't care if that's cellular from any provider, wifi or carrier pigeons. Tech details: It doesn't use SMS. It uses IP over a private cellular network that I buy from Verizon. There's a pair of gateways, one in Atlanta and one in New York that relay messages between the app and the boxes. From the phone side, the app is just talking to that gateway via the internet. It doesn't see or know anything about the private network. From the box side, all it can see is that private network and those gateways, it doesn't know anything about phones or apps or even the internet. That's what the QR code on the box display is all about. That QR contains a cryptographic key for the box. When the app scans the code, it sends that key along with its own key to the gateway. The gateway registers a connection between the two keys and allows them to communicate. There is an API that I'm willing to share (and have) with anyone that is interested in controlling the box without using the app. It's pretty straight forward, which is good because I haven't written much in the way of documentation for it yet.

I deployed a box firmware update yesterday.
* Faster switching times * Uses internet time now as well as cellular * More sophisticated logging of operating parameters (very useful for me to be able to diagnose issues) * Recognizes some edge conditions where a command cannot be followed and properly relays these situations back to the app
About 3% of the boxes in the field have had issues with the time drifting. I tracked it down to some cell towers either not giving any time, not giving it very often, or giving wrong times. So, the box now gets time from the gateways and cross-checks what it's getting from cellular. That should resolve the clock drift issue those folks were seeing. The box also notifies me when it detects faulty time data so I can hassle Verizon about specific misbehaving towers.
A little less than 2% of boxes have had an issue with the sensor bus not being sufficiently noise immune for their particular devices. When this happens, the temperature always reports as 19.4, the screen might stop updating and the box is unable to switch.
Power cycling the box clears this up, but a handful of units eventually experience it again. Since a power cycle clears the problem and it's location/installation specific, this was kind of a bear to diagnose. I flew to Michigan on Wednesday to get my hands on a unit experiencing the issue. I was able to resolve it without power cycling the box and designed a user installable add-on board that permanently solves it. I've ordered a run of these boards that should be in my hands the week of Thanksgiving.
All of the users that experienced this issue have their choice of a package containing: * One of those add-on boards * An allan wrench to open the box * A coupon good for 2 rounds of adult beverages at your favorite watering hole when I'm in your town, or my favorite dive bar if you're in KC or an exchange for a box with the add-on pre-installed.
I'll be emailing the affected users.

Are the firmware updates deployed OTA? Does it happen automatically? I’ve seen no indication on the box or in the App. what firmware is actually running!
I was hoping the SwitcheOn would finally solve the ‘will it or won’t it’ operational uncertainty of my old SMS switch, but so far my testing doesn’t really show that.... For example, sometimes the box switches immediately, and sometimes I’ve waited 20 minutes or so for something to happen..... At least eventually, the box always seems to respond as commanded!

They're OTA and happen automatically. When I push one, every plugged in box grabs it immediately. Takes less than 5 minutes. While it's happening, the box will show "upgrading" and a bar on the display. If I've pushed one while a box is unplugged, it will grab it at next power up. 20 minutes is a long time. Network congestion can sometimes delay a switch up to 2 minutes, but if it takes longer than that you've probably got marginal signal. I PM'd you my email address, let's take a look at why yours is taking too long.

The four channel devices will go on backorder this week along with the two channel. We are still targeting mid-December. Two channel orders are stacking up and they will be filled in order they are received. These boxes have been incredibly popular! If your looking for ideas for the app. would be nice if you could select days of the week not just a date. I'd like to have the battery charger for my tug, turned on once or twice a week to charge its battery.
also can the remote antenna be put outdoors? I currently have mine on the crossbar about 10 ft up inside my hanger signal is around -105db.

Thanks, I'll try it outside next time I'm at the airport.
